KATRINA HAO
This calm and creative architect is a fan of the Netflix series, Hospital Playlist. Like everyone else, she cannot live a day without coffee. Well, we can all agree that a daily dose of caffeine is not up for debate! Being outdoors inspired her a lot. Every time she travels, gardens and nature parks are always on the itinerary, from Kyoto to Versailles --the sight makes her heart flutter.
Her dream of becoming an Interior Designer and Architect started back in high school. She was fascinated with room layouts and color schemes. She remembers that furniture placements would be changed from time to time, while curtains and throw pillows would be coordinated depending on the occasion.
One thing that we love and admire about Katrina is her flexibility in her works. She considers that each project is different since she has to cater to the client's lifestyle. She tries to invoke a certain feeling when designing every space. Be it in a café, a spa, or residential lounge areas. There is balance in layout, dominated with neutrals, a harmonious mix of materials and texture, with geometric or organic patterns -- a place where you can be comfortable spending time with family or friends.
Katrina loves the works of Kenneth Cobonpue, Arch. Mañosa, Zaha Hadid and Studio Mcgee.
Here are some of her works:
Here is her advice to all aspiring interior designers and architects, "For aspiring interior designers, make use of the resources around you. Give your best in every project you do, big or small. Build rapport with contractors, suppliers, and the trade. Be genuine to your clients and love what you do.”
